North to south in one trip: the old streets of Hanoi, a day on Ha Long Bay, three nights on the island of Phu Quoc, and the energy of Ho Chi Minh City to finish.
Land at Noi Bai airport early in the morning, meet your local guide and head to the hotel for an early check-in, so you can rest before the day begins. Then the Ho Chi Minh complex, Hanoi's famous Train Street, and a walk through the Old Quarter's shops and colonial lanes.

Drive out by expressway and board your day cruise through the bay's limestone islands. Walk through Surprising Cave, climb Titop Island for the view or relax on its beach, and paddle into Luon Cave's lagoon by kayak or bamboo boat. The cruise ends with a sunset party on the upper deck before you return to Hanoi.
Pack swimwear, sunglasses and insect repellent. Swimming at Titop depends on the season, and the cruise schedule depends on the weather.

A short flight takes you to the island. After check-in and some time to settle in, head to Sunset Town for its clock tower, the Kissing Bridge and seaside cafรฉs. Watch the sun go down from an elevated viewpoint, then stay for Kiss of the Sea at 9 PM, an open-air show of water effects, light projections, live performance and fireworks.

Stop at a pearl farm on the way to Vinh Dam port, then speedboat between islands: lunch and a swim at May Rut Trong, SUP photos and drone footage at May Rut Ngoai, snorkelling over coral at Gam Ghi. The afternoon is Aquatopia water park on Hon Thom, and you ride back over the sea on one of the world's longest cable cars.
Speedboat, snorkel gear, SUP photography, drone video, Aquatopia entry and cable car tickets are all part of the day.

A full day at VinWonders, one of Vietnam's largest theme parks. Roller coasters and drop towers in Adventure World, the turtle-shaped Sea Shell aquarium, and the slides of Typhoon World. A day the children in the group will talk about for years, and the adults usually enjoy just as much.

Fly to Ho Chi Minh City and check in. In the afternoon, a hop-on hop-off tour of the city's landmarks, from the French-era Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral to Ben Thanh Market and the riverside at Bach Dang Pier.

Explore part of a 250-kilometre underground network from the Vietnam War: living quarters, field hospitals, meeting rooms and the smokeless Hoang Cam kitchens. The evening is free at Bui Vien Walking Street, the liveliest street in the city.
